internet stalking
[a poem]
sulking in the corners
tracking the forgotten
raking the lawn
I am torn
-
false identification
saw you in a good light
I heard you got a good life
your hands are the same
the lines still bend
your pulses are louder
does your heart still beat
like the train on the tracks?
-
you’re smiling
just like always
you’re smiling
a little different
you’re smiling
like that same lost kid
that I once used to know
-
time, wrapped in a present
is the past, that severed
untouched & untouchable
in a box
looking familiar
-
we occupy the seats now
we no longer perform
we are audiences
we are strangers
we had an act together
then we bowed
closed curtains
loud applause
I would have sent a text
asking if you’re in town
but I forgot that this souvenir
was bought from a shop
that closed down
